NCAA Rankings 2018-19
197 Bo Nickal
An eruption of upsets was always just around the corner at 197, and the lid was finally torn off the rankings this week. Ben Honis beat the previously undefeated Pat Brucki. Brucki had banked enough quality wins to hold on to the #3 position, though his claim has been weakened. Honis, however, rocketed up from #18 all the way to #7. Honis only has two losses on the season, and his defeat of Brucki gives him a better win than nearly everyone else in the weight class. Limited action and a loss to Noah Adams kept Honis from climbing any higher.
Bucknell's Drew Phipps handed Rocco Caywood just his fourth loss of the season. That brought the latter down to #8 and the former right up to the cusp of the top 20.
Christian Brunner's victory over Nathan Traxler allowed the Boilermaker to jump into the top 10, while Tom Sleigh's loss to UNC's Brandon Whitman dropped the Hokie out of the top 10.
Finally, Kellen Stout earned his first ranking of the season thanks to his victory over Malik McDonald. Stout's inclusion unfortunately left no room in the top 20 for Cale Davidson of Wyoming.
