2024 Dan Hodge Trophy Award Rankings

2024 Dan Hodge Trophy Rankings

DISCLAIMER: I included the NWCA All-Star Classic in athlete's records and excluded athletes who lost there from consideration. I did not include matches against teammates and non D1 matches. I did include forfeits into athlete's records, but not bonus rate or dominance score. This is why some records and stats will look different than the official NCAA records.

Hodge Trophy Voting Criteria:

1 – Record

2 – Dominance/Bonus-Point Percentage

3 – Quality of Competition

4 – Sportsmanship

Carter Starocci coming back and winning his fourth NCAA title on a hurt knee is a tremendous story. But you cannot win the Dan Hodge Trophy Award if you have two medical forfeit losses on your record IMO.

Aaron Brooks is the obvious #1. The Dan Hodge Trophy Award is his to lose at this point. Going for his fourth title and has the highest bonus rate and dominance score.

Keegan O'Toole is ahead of Trent Hidlay despite having a lower record, bonus rate, and dominance score because of quality of competition. O'Toole's win over David Carr and bumping up to beat Big Ten champion Edmond Ruth get him the #2 spot.

Mitchell Mesenbrink made a jump with his big win over DJ Hamiti in the Big Ten finals. This gave him the quality of competition bump he had been lacking. QOC is also why Ryan Crookham is ahead of Yonger Bastida despite having a lower record, bonus rate, and dominance score. Two wins over Vito Arujau trump all of Bastida's solid wins this year. Kerkvliet stays ahead of Crookham because their records are comparable and he has the edge in bonus rate and dominance score. As stated above, in the data below, Kerkvliet has a tech fall over Hendrickson.
