The long-awaited showdown between Kyle Dake and Zaurbek Sidakov is finally about to happen.

The 74 kg 2-time World and Olympic champion, #1 Zaurbek Sidakov, was back in action at the Commonwealth Cup in Vladikavkaz, Russia on Friday, July 28. Sidakov entered a 16-man bracket and reached the finals with 3 straight wins over Stanislav Svinoboev (11-0), Robert Dzukaev (9-0), and Akhmed Nurakhmaev (4-0). This set up a finals showdown against #11 Timur Bizhoev.

The Junior World Championships will be held in Ufa, Russia and will take place from August 16-22. With the benefit of hindsight, we can look back over the past 10 years of Junior Worlds to see how future world/Olympic medalists and champions first made their mark at Junior Worlds. This article will highlight some of the best matches from the past 10 years.

It could really happen. After almost a four year hiatus, Jordan Burroughs and Kyle Dake could wrestle once again; this time for a spot on the Olympic Team. The two had one of the best rivalries for a brief period at 74 kg until Dake moved up to 79 kg and won two World titles. Now, he’s back down to try and take what JB has kept from him in the past.

The 2021 US Olympic Trials go down this weekend. All the action will be streamed either through NBC Sports Network or NBC's Peackock streaming service. Meanwhile, we'll have a watch party live throughout the trials to keep wrestling fans in the loop. Not long ago, after what seemed like an eternity, the whole wrestling world decided to start their postseasons all at once. Thus, what was once a competition dessert was soon awash with a flood of wrestling events. Mercifully rescued from our period of antediluvian limbo, we, at last, had wrestling championships to report on.

It looks like we’re going to get the marquee matchup that we were looking for at 74kg tomorrow morning, but Sidakov made it interesting. The two-time World Champion was tested in the semifinals by 2020 Russian National bronze medalist, Timur Bizhoev.
