NCAA Rankings 2018-19

Joe Smith had two marquee matchups last weekend, and unfortunately for the two-time All-American Cowboy, he lost them both, to Jordan Kutler and Taylor Lujan. Both Kutler and Lujan were top 10 wrestlers, so Smith falls just two spots to #7. Smith's victory over David McFadden earlier this year pushes the two-time All-American Hokie down to #8. That's a lot of firepower in the top eight of a weight class.

Elsewhere, Dylan Lydy beat Devin Skatzka. As a result, Lydy leaps over Kimball Bastian and Skatzka, even though Bastian has beaten Lydy this year. This is because Skatzka has three wins over Kimball Bastian this season, and we give the edge among the trio to Lydy if for no other reason than recency bias.

Northwestern's Johnny Sebastian lost again, this time to Ethan Smith, and with just a 5-7 record on the season, Sebastian doesn't have enough slack to prevent being bounced from the rankings. Cyclone Marcus Coleman claims the vacated position at #20.
