Olivieri and Cedeno were #1 and #2 at this weight all season long and settled it once and for all on Saturday night in AC when Olivieri, once again, survived 1-0 to take home his second title. This final looked eerily similar to the pair’s Beast of the East final of the same result.

Freshman Simon Ruiz of Delbarton is the guy to look out for here after a super impressive freshman campaign culminating in a third-place finish. Placing as freshman is one thing, but to do it at such a deep middleweight full of seasoned upperclassmen is something different. If he continues to grow in size, don’t be surprised to see Ruiz start flying up the Big Board as his career unfolds. It was only a few years back that I remember a young Billy Janzer impressing as a 132lb freshman for Delsea. I have a feeling we could see a similar trajectory from Ruiz.

This weight was fairly easy to rank as most questions were answered in AC.
