2019-20 New Jersey High School Rankings

New Jersey High School Rankings: 138

By Brendan Scannell

The state quarters here are going to be crazy. All eight ranked guys have either placed or own a win over a former state placer.

I feel confident putting Dylan Weaver at #1 here. I know Joey Olivieri won a state title at 106 two years ago but Weaver has been trending up and fast. After a solid freshman year at Bergen Catholic, he transferred home where he is coached by his father and hasn’t missed a step. If New Jersey wrestling gave out a “most improved” superlative, Weaver would have won it. I think he’s the guy to beat this year.

Andy Clark and Cooper Pontelandolfo are both state placers out of Region 7 who will certainly contend for a title.

It will also be interesting to see if Will Grater can make a jump after making the move to the mighty Bergen Catholic, this year. Lately, Bergen seems to snag a transfer like this every offseason.
