World champion #1 Zaur Uguev (RUS) is coming off a title at the Ali Aliyev which he won with a win over #6 Azamat Tuskaev (RUS) in the finals of the Ali Aliyev. Muslim Sadulaev (RUS) cemented his spot as the #2 guy in Russia with strong efforts at the Alans and Yarygin that saw him beat Tyutrin, Magomedov, Khuresh-Ool, and Tuskaev. Third-ranked Abasgadzhi Magomedov (RUS) made his presence felt at 57 KG with a title-winning performance at the Alans over #5 Donduk-ool Khuresh-Ool (RUS) and a runner-up finish at the Yarygin where he beat a pair of world medalists in #7 (INT) Thomas Gilman (USA) and #9 (INT) Bekhbayar Erdenebat (MGL). #5 Donduk-Ool Khuresh-Ool is in off the strength of runner-up finishes at the 2018 Russian Nationals and the Alans and has wins over #2 Muslim Sadulaev and #4 Aryan Tyutrin.  

Aryan Tyutrin takes the number five spot off the strength of wins over #6 Azamat Tuskaev at Russian Nationals last year, #2 Muslim Sadulaev at the Mindiashvili Grand Prix, and a win over #6 (INT) Reineri Andreu Ortega (CUB) at the world cup. #8 Khasanguseynov Badrudinov is coming off a bronze medal finish at the Ali Aliev where he beat Karaev who had just beaten Alans bronze medalist Ibragim Abdurakhmanov (RUS). #7 Amirkhan Guvazhokov and #10 Ibragim Abdurakhmanov are ranked off the strength of wins over #4 Aryan Tyutrin and #2 Muslim Sadulaev at the Yarygin and at the Alans respectively.
