NCAA Rankings 2018-19
Myles High Club
2018's national champion Bo Nickal of Penn State will be moving up to 197, clearing the path for NCAA runner-up Myles Martin to start the year at number one.
Taking his place in the Nittany Lion lineup is last season's seventh-place 197-pounder, Shakur Rasheed, who checks in at number five. Also bumping down is Iowa's Cash Wilcke, a two-time qualifier still looking for his first All-American honor, who makes his 184-pound debut on the back half of the rankings.
Another newcomer to the rankings is sophomore Nick Reenan. Reenan had a tremendous redshirt campaign last season, notching a win over All-American Zack Zavatsky and suffering just two losses, to Bryce Carr and Bo Nickal. Reenan also made Final X where he squared off against David Taylor (spoiler alert: DT won).
Oklahoma State's lineup remains a mystery, but for now, we've got Jacobe Smith, an All-American at 174 last season, up a weight and just inside the top 10.
The final five or six spots were very difficult to nail down. Dozens of rankable contenders all had something to recommend, and those that did make it into the top 20 will find their perch on the list a precarious one. Some other names who may slip into the rankings soon after the season begins include Will Schany of Virginia (coming up from 174), Drew Phipps of Bucknell, and redshirt freshmen Jelani Embree of Michigan and Cam Caffey of Michigan State.
