It appears as though 7X World and Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev will be back in action for the first time in four months at the European Championships next month. This will be his first competition back since injury defaulting out of the 2023 World Championship semifinals in September.

After injury defaulting out of his semifinal against Akhmed Tazhudinov, Abdulrashid Sadulaev flew to Moscow to undergo medical scans on his neck. According to UWW, "Sadulaev is suffering from a neck hernia, towards the end of his spinal cord. Medical scans will determine if it is a tumor or if Sadulaev can return to the mat without surgery."

In a span of a couple hours Monday, a 20-year-old competing for a country with one World wrestling medal in its existence managed to take down two of the sport’s all-time giants.

United World Wrestling has announced that while it's still subject to change, as of right now, Russia will be bringing all of their #1s to the World Championships. This includes Olympic champions Zaurbek Sidakov and Abdulrashid Sadulaev. Read the full press release below.
