Meet the Champions:

1A:    Joseph Ruzic - Auburn, Sophomore 26-0

2A:    Gylon Sims - Joliet Catholic, Junior 33-4

3A:    Jameson Garcia - Marmion, Junior 32-4

It was mentioned here a few weeks ago after coming off a few losses that Sims had all the tools to repeat as the 2A champion and he left no doubt that not only does he have the tools, he has some horsepower as well earning two tech falls and two major decisions en route to his second state title.  Also impressive was Ruzic who closed out an undefeated season with solid wins in each round of his tournament as he earned a 1A title.  However, it is Jameson Garcia who both started with and finishes with the top spot at this weight.  None of Garcia's four losses are to in-state opponents and his second state title solidified the number one ranking.

Other storylines from 113 include Resendez re-entering the rankings with an overtime win against #6 Gosz, unranked Villalobos defeating #1 Joshua Glover in the 2A semifinals and several ranked wrestlers not finding the podium in both 2A and 3A.
