2021-22 Michigan High School Rankings: 189

Ranked No. 7 in the nation pound-for-pound and No. 6 at 170, Rojas used his team's holiday break to turn in masterful performance at the Matmen Open. Facing only Division 1 college wrestlers, Rojas went 5-1, including a stunning win over NCAA qualifier Gerrit Nijenhuis (Purdue), who is ranked 16th in the nation at 174 pounds. 

Rojas captured  his first Fargo crown this summer (junior freestyle, 170 pounds) after placing second twice as a cadet. The Iowa State recruit bested Brayden Thompson, ranked No. 2 at 170, of Illinois in the final. Rojas also knocked off state champions Brody Baumann (Indiana) and Sabino Portella (New Jersey). Baumann is ranked No. 17 in the nation at 170 while Portella Is No. 19. 

Rojas recently dropped down to 171 pounds and decisioned Davison Josh Barr, a two-time state champion who is ranked No. 9 in the nation at 170. Rojas has also beaten Bradley Gillum (Illinois), ranked 13th in the country at 182. 

Rojas avenged an earlier loss to Cotton, ranked No. 15 in the nation at 182, for his second straight state championship. Rojas was 32-2 last season, including a win over Division 1, 215-pound state champion Jimmy Colley (Davison). Rojas had a 99-12 career high school mark entering this season.
