2021-22 Michigan High School Rankings: 103

Smith become the first-ever state champion from Detroit Public School League high school and finished the season 19-1. His final career mark is 78-19. Smith finished fifth in the state a year ago and eighth as a sophomore. After the high school season, Smith beat Oklahoma state champion Chris Kiser, then ranked No. 13 in the nation at 106 pounds, at Michigan Border Brawl and was 10-1 at Disney Duals. Smith is ranked No. 17 nationally at 106.
