2020-21 NCAA D1 Pretend Preseason Rankings

165

The NCAA has decided not to grant winter sport athletes another year of eligibility. These preseason rankings, however, have been assembled presupposing that those extra years were granted and that everyone elected to return and compete. We had to make a bunch of other assumptions too since it's April and all sorts of speculative lineup decisions have yet to be hypothetically made. So best not to take these too seriously, even though it would be incredibly cool if it happened. But no, only in our dreams. As real as it may seem, it will only occur in our dreams.

This is one of the all-time 'what could have been' weight classes. NCAA and UWW junior world champ Mekhi Lewis returns. We also bring two-time NCAA champion, Vincenzo Jospeh, back too. The Bull and yet-to-be-defeated Shane Griffith are here as well. Evan Wick has another year, plus we're forcing Isaiah White and Josh Sheilds to wrestle another year. Third-placer Logan Massa comes off Olympic redshirt. And we're saying David Carr bumps up. Baby, now we're cooking with some real heat.

Demetrius Romero should get another year due to medical hardship. Ohio State's Carson Kharchla will also get his first crack at varsity. Kharchla's weight has yet to be set in stone, but 13 of his 16 wins (against no losses) last season were at 165.
