285: Boykin Meets World
North Carolina State's Michael Boykin makes a top 10 debut, largely on the strength of his Southern Scuffle performance in which he beat #5 Nathan Butler and #6 Nick Nevills.
Boykin had seemingly lost the Wolfpack starting 285-pound job when he was beaten by teammate Malik McDonald at the Journeyman Collegiate Classic. However, Boykin got the nod this weekend in a dual meet against Pitt, where he beat then-#19 Ryan Solomon. The Panthers redshirt senior and ACC rival Andrew Dunn of Virginia Tech drop out the top 20 to make room for Boykin and yet another ACC heavyweight, Cory Daniel of North Carolina. Daniel has beaten Dunn and Solomon in consecutive weeks to earn the #20 ranking.
Suffice it to say, this year's 285-pound bracket alone at the ACC conference championships in Chapel Hill, NC, will be worth the price of admission.
