2024-25 NCAA DI Wrestling Rankings
197 - Stephen Buchanan
Stephen Buchanan takes over the #1 spot after winning an NCAA title while recording wins over AJ Ferrari, Josh Barr, Seth Shumate, and Joey Novak.
Joey Novak is the big mover and rises from #13 to #5 after defeating Michael Beard, Stephen Little, Cam McDanel, and Dillon Bechtold to reach the podium.
Though Michael Beard failed to place, he holds at #6 for his performance at the NCAA Tournament. Beard notably defeated Stephen Little and lost only to Josh Barr and Joey Novak. Little's losses at NCAAs were to Novak Cardenas, and Beard but Little defeated Mac Stout and Trey Munoz. Because of those results, Beard remains ranked ahead of Little.
Similarly, Trey Munoz remains ranked at the #8 spot even though he didn't reach the podium. At NCAAs, Munoz defeated Camen McDanel and Zac Glazier and lost only to Josh Barr and Stephen Little. Those results keep Munoz ahead of All-Americans Mac Stout and Camden McDanel.
Luke Surber drops from #8 to #13 after losing to Zac Braunagel and Patrick Brophy. Despite those losses, Surber had a phenomenal regular season that included wins over Zach Glazier, Stephen Little, Andy Smith, Trey Munoz, Wyatt Voelker, Camden Mcdanel, and several other ranked wrestlers. Because of that strong resume, Surber is kept from falling further.
Because there were so many upsets at the NCAA Tournament, we'll limit our rankings explanations to the top 15. If you have any questions, we welcome and encourage your feedback.
