Pennsylvania High School Wrestling Mini Boards

Class of 2025

The sophomore class in Pennsylvania is one of the most impressive classes in the entire country. Kollin Rath had perhaps one of the best seasons in PIAA history in 2022-23. After taking an early season loss to Kannon Webster in the Ironman semifinals, Rath ran the table the rest of the year. Rath was third at the Ironman, a Beast of the East champion, an Escape the Rock champion, and picked up his first PIAA AAA crown in a bracket with two returning state champions. Throughout the year Rath defeated three returning PIAA champions as he bumped up to 145 pounds and defeated Mac Church at the state duals, and then defeated returning champions Dalton Perry and Pierson Manville twice each this season including in the state semifinals and finals to finish the year 38-1. Rath was also second at the U17 World Team Trials last month in Vegas.

Nathan Desmond followed up a dominant freshman season by going 41-1, including a third-place finish at the Ironman and titles at the Beast of the East and Escape the Rock and his second straight PIAA crown.

After finishing fourth at the state tournament as a freshman, Collin Gaj made huge jumps this season to finish 49-0, including a controlled 7-1 win over returning two-time state champion Mac Church in the state finals to win his first PIAA AAA crown. Gauge Botero followed up a third-place finish at the state tournament as a freshman by winning his first PIAA AA crown over a very tough freshman in Brandt Harer to slot in at #5 on the list.

Vince Bouzakis joined the PIAA this year from Wyoming Seminary and had podium finishes at both the Ironman and Powerade along with a Beast of the East title before winning his first state championship. Aaron Seidel went 49-0 and dominated to his second straight state title at the lowest weight class and is now 97-1 in his career heading into his junior season.
