2022-23 NCAA DI Rankings

197 - Rocky Elam

197 continues to produce chaos! At the Collegiate Duals Max Dean defeated Yonger Bastida, Bernie Truax defeated Michael Beard, Isaac Trumble defeated Bernie Truax, and Michael Beard defeated Isaac Trumble. Also this season, Michael Beard and Ethan Laird defeated Max Dean while Nino Bonaccorsi defeated Michael Beard.

So let's sort out our rationale. Rocky Elam is the #1 because of his win over Jacob Warner at the All-Star and his wins at last year's NCAA tournament over Yonger Bastida and Nino Bonaccorsi. Ethan Laird comes in at #2 because he's undefeated and beat Max Dean. Though Dean lost to Beard and Laird, he's the returning national champion and just defeated Bastida.

Bonaccorsi's best win is over Beard, has no career wins over anyone in the top 4, and lost to Hoffman and Trumble last year.

Beard has the win over #4 Dean but also just lost to #8 Truax.

Warner has zero wins over anyone ranked 1-6 - he's 0-1 against Elam, 0-2 against Bastida, and 0-2 against Dean.

Then there's Truax and Trumble. Though Trumble just beat Truax, he also lost to Beard, who Truax just beat. Truax gets the not with having a better win and because of his finish at NCAAs last season.

It's obviously not cut-and-dry, but that's our rationale!
