Zaur Uguev was back in action for the first time since winning an Olympic gold medal last summer in Tokyo. Uguev defeated Nachyn Mongush in the final of Russian nationals in a tight, 3-2 match. Though Mongush lost in the finals, he had an impressive tournament defeating #5 Ramiz Gamzatov in the semis, 11-2. Gamzatov came back to win bronze in a wild, 15-13 win over Ramazan Abdurakhimov in the bronze medal match. The other bronze medalist, Musa Mekhtikhanov jumps in the rankings do to his win over Amir Chamzyn for bronze - Chamzyn had a great tournament as well defeating Azamat Tuskaev in the quarters - 8-2.

At the Takhti Cup in Iran, Ahmad Javan was the surprise gold medalist with a win over defending world silver medalist Alireza Sarlak. Both Javan and Sarlak will wrestle at the next Rankings Event in Tunisia in July to determine who will represent Iran at the World Championships.

Also of note, Aliabbas Rzazade won the Matteo Pellicone with a win over 2021 world bronze medalist Horst Lehr in the finals. However, Lehr holds his spot in the rankings after defeating Georgia's Beka Bujiashvili on his way to the finals.
