In his first season as the starter for Appalachian State, Caleb Smith had a successful season where he picked up multiple ranked wins and qualified for the NCAA Championships. Smith came out on fire at the national tournament, where he picked up a 8-5 decision over two-time All-American Patrick Mckee in the first round before losing his next two bouts to end his season. Logan Ashton went just 8-7 last season, but qualified for the national tournament and went 1-2. Ashton transferred from Stanford to Chattanooga in the offseason.
