2021-22 NCAA DI Rankings

Kizhan Clarke Griswald

Some minor surprises at 141, but nothing too shocking, like a wardrobe malfunction at the Superbowl halftime show, for instance, or an 18-year-old cultural reference in a college rankings explanation.

But Kizhan Clarke did beat three-time NCAA All-American and one-time NWCA All-American Chad Red. Because of all those postseason accolades, Red only drops one spot. Clarke, though, moves up four. Actually Red doesn't drop at all and Clarke moves up five, because we forgot to mention that Yianni Diakomihalis is up at 149, which moved everyone (but Nick Lee, who stays at #1) up one position higher than they'd be otherwise.

Elsewhere, Dusty Hone beat Saul Ervin. But Carter Young bested Hone in Oklahoma State wrestle-offs, and Young is 0-1 in his collegiate career, so both Hone and Young stay unranked and Ervin's rank doesn't change.

Carmen Ferrante had an excellent Keystone Classic and moves into the rankings, bringing Corey Shie with him, who beat Ferrante earlier this year. Dylan D'Emilio also returns to the rankings as it appears that Jordan Decatur will be out for at least a little while with an injury.

Angelo Martinoni lost to Utah Valley's Delgado but we are still assuming Ty Smith will be the starter for the Wolverines. Martinoni still drops as a result, however.

And into the final spot on the rankings moves Ryan Jack, who defeated West Virginia's Caleb Rea this week and Cody Phippen last week. His only loss on the season is to UNC's Lachlan McNeil, who is redshirting and presumably preparing to take the job from Clarke next year after Kizhan runs out of eligibility.
