70 - Amir Yazdani

Japan’s Taishi Narikuni moves into the top spot at 70kg after winning gold at the 2022 World Championships. Narikuni took out Zain Retherford, Ernazar Akmataliev, Ilyas Bekbulatov, and Syrbaz Talgat. While Yazdani was formerly #1 and didn’t lose, he forfeited to Josh Finesilver. With that, Yazdani forfeited his right to hold his #1 spot. 

Zain Retherford makes a big jump after winning silver highlighted by wins over Zurabi Iakobishvili and Arman Andreasyan. Retherford doesn’t jump too high in the rankings based on the competition he faced but slots in behind 65kg 2021 world champ Zagir Shakhiev in the rankings at #8.
