2023 International Wrestling Rankings - Men's Freestyle

57 Zaur Uguev

The only changes at 57kg in this set of rankings come from results at the national tournaments of Iran and Japan. Toshihiro Hasegawa, Japan’s 61kg 2021 world bronze medalist, won the Emperor’s Cup over Yuto Takeshita in the 57kg finals. Prior to the gold medal match, Takeshita took out formerly ranked #16 Toshiya Abe and moves back into the rankings for his performance.

In Iran, Reza Momeni enters the top 20 after winning the national tournament. Momeni received a forfeit from Olympian Reza Atri in the finals - Atri failed to make weight after the first day of competition creating some complications for Iran. The winner of Iran’s national tournament was originally slated to wrestle-off world silver medalist #6 Alireza Sarlak for the right to go to the Asian Championships. Now, Iran has to decide if they’ll give Atri a second chance or leave the final wrestle-off between Momeni and Sarlak.
