2023 International Wrestling Rankings - Men's Freestyle

79 Jordan Burroughs

Jordan Burroughs holds the top spot at 79kg after winning his 5th world title in Oslo. Burroughs notable wins from worlds were over #6 Mohammad Nokhodi and #3 Radik Valiev (RUS). Though Nokhodi won world silver, he fails to move above the #7 spot based on his best win at worlds being over #8 Nika Kentchadze (GEO). Nokhodi and Kentchadze were opposite Burroughs and Valiev, making their side of the bracket much easier.

Though he did not place at worlds, Ashraf Ashirov (AZE) moves into the rankings after he defeated 2021 European gold medalist #17 Akhsarbek Gulaev. Also, Ryuki Yoshida (JPN) went on to defeat Ashirov before falling to Valiev in the bronze medal match.

A wrestler to look out for is #11 Magomed Magomaev. He won Russia’s U23 World team trials and has a past win over Akhsarbek Gualev. Magomaev will represent Russia at 79kg at the U23 World Championships in November.
