2023 International Wrestling Rankings - Men's Freestyle

57 Zaur Uguev

While two-time defending world champion Zaur Uguev won Russian Nationals in March, the story of 57kg was Nachyn Mongush. Mongush lost in a thrilling finals match to Uguev but prior to that defeated 2020 Euro Champ, Azamat Tuskaev. Mongush has limited results on the senior level, but his win over Tuskaev proves his potential and Russia’s depth at the lowest weight class.

Abubakar Mutaliev, who has multiple wins over Thomas Gilman, also moved into the rankings due to his performance at Russian Nationals. Mutaliev took bronze and defeated formerly ranked Donduk-Ool and now #16 Belek-Ool Khuzuget. Despite taking 5th at Russian Nationals, Khuzuget earned his ranking by taking out #16 Akhmed Idrisov and formerly ranked Khasan Badrudinov.

The final notable performance of the month came from Arsen Harutyunyan (ARM). He followed up his silver medal at the 2020 World Cup by winning the European Olympic Games Quaifier. There, Harutyunyan went 4-0 and only surrendered 10 points on his run to gold.
