2019-20 NCAA DIII Rankings

285 Adarios Jones - Augustana College

Jones is a two-time All-American and was the NCAA runner-up in 2019; he was very close to taking the title but lost in sudden victory which was his only loss of the year. Jones is an impressive heavyweight and scores in bunches thanks to his wide array of attacks from the neutral position. All-Americans Drew Kasper and Konrad Ernst will be Jones' biggest threat to claiming the 285 title in 2020.

Kasper made the most of his first year of competition at 285, going 32-2 and finishing in sixth place at NCAAs. Ernst is a two-time All-American and entered NCAAs as the #4 seed and an undefeated record but suffered a first-round loss. Ernst managed to make his way through a tough consolation bracket and secure his second All-American finish; he finished the season with a 29-2 record. NCAA qualifiers make up up the rest of the top 10; a lot of the top guys graduated in 2019 making 285 a wide-open weight class this season. Michael DiNardo is making the move up to heavyweight after qualifying for NCAAs the last two seasons at 197. The senior was a top-eight seed the last two seasons at NCAAs but has yet to find the podium, will be interesting to see how DiNardo adjusts to the new weight. With his skill set he could find success just depends on how he will deal with some of the bigger heavyweights.
