Gilman is a former Iowa Hawkeye, and current Nittany Lion Wrestling Club member who represents the United States at 57 kg. Gilman has found success on the international stage with a bronze medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and a gold medal at the 2021 UWW Senior World Championships in Olso, Norway.

Cory Clark and Thomas Gilman were teammates at the University of Iowa. They were also rivals through out their wrestling careers, starting as little kids. Cory describes their relationship on and off the mat and how it changed once Clark moved up to 133 pounds.
