Anthony Knox's Inside Tie + Lefty High C Series| Technique Tuesday
Sep 1, 2026
In this week's Technique Tuesday, U20 World Team Trials champion and incoming Rutgers freshman Anthony Knox breaks down four takedowns from an inside tie — all built off one threat: a lefty high C that everybody game-plans for, which is exactly what makes faking it so dangerous.
Every sequence starts the same way — play with the lead hand, fake the collar, get to the inside tie. From there Knox fakes the straighten pass to drive his opponent's hips back, turns his lat on and drags across, then drops his outside hand to the outside leg and pulls himself into a double rather than chasing it. He fakes the high C and switches his feet for a misdirection knee pull, shooting his head to the inside of the hip instead of the outside and pressuring in to straighten the leg. Against a strong elbow tie he re-grabs and steps to a duck — and when the hips slide out, he turns his own, catches the head and looks for the fall. And when the inside trip gets caught, he throws his hips in and punches the underhook with the same hand that held the inside tie, driving straight through to back points.
