Landon Robideau Reattack Finishes | Technique Tuesday
Apr 14, 2026
On this week's Technique Tuesday, national champion Landon Robideau breaks down the reattack — the primary method of scoring at the highest level of wrestling right now.
Landon walks through two reattack sequences he used in the NCAA finals: a reattack-to-knee-pull off an opponent's shot, and a go-behind counter off a high crotch. Both techniques start from the same place — a cross block — and both are designed to turn your opponent's offense against them before they can recover.
You'll learn the details that make these work at the highest level: catching the elbow crease on the cross block, circling your feet instead of reaching, pulling the head down to kill your opponent's vision, and re-penetrating behind the leg like a normal single leg.
You'll learn:
- How to set up the reattack with collar tie pressure and timing your opponent's shot
- The cross block to knee pull finish — including where to catch the elbow crease
- Why your trail leg and re-penetration behind the knee are critical to finishing
- A variation from space using a hand post to bait the reach
- The go-behind counter off a high crotch — pulling the head down and circling to the legs
These are the sequences Landon hit at the biggest moments of the season. If you're not reattacking, you're leaving points on the mat.
