In the premier match of the evening, two of the nation’s best high school girls, 2021 Fargo double champ Shelby Moore and Cadet World champion Katie Gomez, will be squaring off for the #1 spot at 122 lbs. 

Katie Gomez will be coming up from 117 lbs. This past summer Gomez dominated her way to the Cadet World Team at 53 kg (116.8 lbs) before going on to win a World gold medal in Budapest.

In addition to being a Cadet World champion, Gomez, a native of California, is a 2021 USAW HS National Recruiting Showcase champion and 2019 Fargo finalist. She’ll be a senior this year at Birmingham High School.

One year younger, but equally as talented is Moore. This summer Moore won both 16U and Junior Fargo titles at 122 lbs. In the Junior finals, Moore defeated Jennifer Soto 5-1. Soto is the girl who defeated Gomez in the Fargo finals in 2019.

A junior at White River High School in Washington, Moore is also a  USAW HS National Recruiting Showcase champion and Folkstyle Nationals champion.
