Earlier this off-season I took a look at the D1 wrestlers with the longest win streaks heading into next season. Today, we'll take a look at the teams with the longest dual win streaks going into the 2020-21 season.

As you can see by the small number of teams below, it's very difficult to put a winning streak together in college wrestling. If a team won at least their last five duals, they made the cut.

North Carolina State - 17

Last Loss: February 10, 2019, to Pitt, 18-16

Average Margin of Victory During Win Streak: 19.35

Point Differential During Win Streak: 492-159

After being upset by Pitt near the end of last season, NC State went on the road to beat rivals North Carolina and Virginia Tech to finish the 2018-19 dual season on a high note.

This season, NC State just decided they wouldn't lose at all and were dominant all year. Only three dual wins were by single digits and they owned three wins over teams that finished in the top 10 of our final D1 dual rankings.  Expect the Wolfpack to rack up plenty more wins next year as they return every starter and also bring in the #8 recruiting class

Iowa - 13

Last Loss: February 24, 2019, to Oklahoma State, 27-12

Average Margin of Victory During Win Streak: 25.54

Point Differential During Win Streak: 409-84

Penn State came into the season widely regarded as the pre-season favorite, but after just a few weekends it was clear that Iowa was the best team in the country. During the dual season, the Hawkeyes earned three shutouts, twice held an opponent to one win, and three other times held an opponent to just two wins, and only Penn State managed to stay within single digits of them.

Like NC State, Iowa returns all 10 starters from a year ago and adds Jaydin Eierman to the mix along with the nation's #2 ranked recruiting class

Lehigh - 11

Last Loss: December 6, 2019, to Penn State, 23-10

Average Margin of Victory During Win Streak: 20.36

Point Differential During Win Streak: 319-95

Outside of NC State and Iowa, Lehigh is the only school to take a double-digit win streak into next season. After falling to Penn State in early December, the Mountain Hawks wouldn't lose the rest of the way beating Minnesota, Missouri, Cornell, Army, and Arizona State. All five of those teams finished in the top 25 of our dual rankings and just two of those (Cornell, Arizona State) were decided by single digits.

Campbell - 9

Last Loss: January 11, 2020, to Arizona State, 21-18

Average Margin of Victory During Win Streak: 26.9

Point Differential During Win Streak: 313-71

Campbell's win streak began the same day the Camel's got the country's attention by upsetting Iowa State and nearly upsetting then-undefeated and top ten ranked, Arizona State. During the win streak, just one dual was decided by single digits. Campbell finished the dual season ranked inside the top 20 of our D1 dual rankings

Hofstra - 8

Last Loss: January 5, 2020, to Bloomsburg, 20-19

Average Margin of Victory During Win Streak: 26.25

Point Differential During Win Streak: 271-61

After an up and down start to the season, Hofstra found their groove in late January and didn't look back. The Pride closed out the season not only winning their final eight duals but doing so in dominant fashion to finish the season 11-5 which was Hofstra's first above .500 dual season since the 2011-2012 campaign.

Princeton - 7

Last Loss: January 11, 2020, to NC State, 29-12

Average Margin of Victory During Win Streak: 13.57

Point Differential During Win Streak: 176-81

Despite having one of the toughest dual schedules in the country, Princeton still managed to put together one of the nation's longest win streaks to close the season. Not only did the Tigers finish strong with seven straight wins, but they made history along the way. Cornell had won 92 straight Ivy League duals before Princeton knocked them off to win their first Ivy League title since 1986. The Tigers weren't done yet though as they beat in-state rival for the first since 1990 snapping a 23 dual losing skid to the Scarlet Knights. With Chris Ayres at the helm, the schedule will never be easy, but Princeton will always be a dangerous squad.

Nebraska - 6

Last Loss: January 24, 2020, to Penn State, 20-18

Average Margin of Victory During Win Streak: 16

Point Differential During Win Streak: 164-68

Nebraska turned in one of the best seasons of any team in the country this year and in my humble opinion were snubbed of a team of the year nomination. The Cornhuskers won CKLV, finished second at the Big Ten Championships, and qualified all 10 wrestlers to the NCAA Championships automatically. After a brutal three-dual stretch that included Wisconsin, Iowa, and Penn State, Nebraska wouldn't lose again. Their win streak to close the season included wins over Ohio State, Purdue, Michigan, and Minnesota who all finished the season ranked in the top 18 of our dual rankings.

Northern Illinois - 5

Last Loss: January 25, 2020, to Missouri, 32-6

Average Margin of Victory During Win Streak: 19.6

Point Differential During Win Streak: 138-40

It was a great season in Dekalb for Ryan Ludwig's Northern Illinois squad. The Huskies won 13 duals for the first time since the 2003-2004 season, had a MAC champion (Brit Wilson) for the first time since 2016, finished third at the MAC Championships, and qualified four wrestlers for the NCAA Championship. Ludwig rightfully earned co-MAC Coach of the Year honors with Central Michigan's Tom Borelli. During the Huskies win streak to close the season, they won by an average of nearly 20 points and earned their first win over Ohio University since 2008.

Penn State - 5

Last Loss: January 31, 2020, to Iowa, 19-17

Average Margin of Victory During Win Streak: 23.6

Point Differential During Win Streak: 160-42

For the first time since the 2014-15 season, Penn State lost multiple duals in a season. The Nittany Lions saw their 60-dual win streak come to an end in early November against Arizona State and fell to Iowa in one of the best duals of the year. After the loss to the Hawkeyes, Penn State rolled winning their final five duals by 23 points and twice scored 40 points.
