It's never too early to look ahead to next season, right? With the decision Monday from the NCAA to not give winter sports athletes another year of eligibility, we removed the seniors from this year's list of NCAA qualifiers to get a feel for what the landscape of each weight will look like in 2020-21.

Of course, this doesn't include high school seniors who could go right away, wrestlers redshirting, and anyone could possibly receive a sixth year like Michael Kemerer. Before going weight by weight and taking a look at the individual wrestlers that will be back, take a look at the total number of returning qualifiers at each weight.

Returning Qualifiers By Weight

125 - 26

133 - 26

141 - 22

149 - 22

157 - 23

165 - 22

174 - 16

184 - 24

197 - 23

285 - 26

Total - 230

In case you didn't know, 330 wrestlers qualify for the NCAA Championships each year so about 70 percent of the wrestlers who qualified for this year's NCAA Championships will be back next season. Below, we'll show you all of the wrestlers who are back, the seed they earned, their eligibility status, and 2019-20 record.

Newly crowned Hodge Trophy winner Spencer Lee will be back for his final season in black and gold heavily favored to win his third NCAA title. Pat Glory is the only other returning qualifier who has been an All-American before. Vito Arujau could be back in the mix after taking an Olympic redshirt, but it's still unclear if he will be back at 125 or up at 133. Our very own Wrestling Nomad speculated recently that he would be moving up to 133

NCAA champion Seth Gross may be gone, but 133 doesn't get any easier next season. Six of the top 10 seeds return including All-Americans Sebastian Rivera, Roman Bravo-Young, Austin DeSanto, and Montorie Bridges. This doesn't even include NCAA finalists Daton Fix, Stevan Micic, and Nick Suriano who were all taking Olympic redshirts last season. Next season will be unreal!

With Luke Pletcher gone and Yianni possibly moving up to 149, Nick Lee becomes the big favorite next season. Dom Demas, Chad Red, and Tariq Wilson are the returning All-Americans at this weight. It's important to note that Demas did beat Lee in their only meeting at the 2019 NCAA Championships.

If Yianni stays down at 141 next season this weight will be as wide-open as it was this year. Throughout the season, four different wrestlers (Austin O'Connor, Pat Lugo, Boo Lewallen, Sammy Sasso) held the #1 ranking for at least a week. Seven of this year's NCAA top 10 seeds returning including All-Americans O'Connor, Brock Mauller, Lewallen, and Jarret Degen. If Yianni does move up, he's the clear favorite in my opinion.

This weight will look almost exactly the same as last season as nine of the top 10 seeds from this year's NCAA Championships returns. Four seed Jesse Dellavecchia is the only one who will not return. While Ryan Deakin and Hayden Hidlay were clearly the top two at the weight, young hammers like David Carr, Quincy Monday, Kendall Coleman, Josh Humphreys, Jacori Teemer, and Will Lewan make this a fun and competitive weight. Deakin and Hidlay would be the only two returners who have been on the podium before.

With Vincenzo Joseph gone, Alex Marinelli would be the big favorite heading into his senior season. However, freshman NCAA champion Mekhi Lewis will be back from his Olympic redshirt and is the one who knocked Marinelli to the wrestlebacks at the 2019 NCAA Championships. However, Lewis was very big for the weight and it will be interesting to see if he possibly moves up. Marinelli and rival Evan Wick are the only returning qualifiers who are also All-Americans.

This is by far the weight with the least amount of returning wrestlers. As it stands right now, the #6 seed, Kaleb Romero, is the highest-seeded returning wrestler and only Mikey Labriola has been an All-American before. However, we do expect senior Michael Kemerer to receive a sixth year after missing all of the 2018-19 season due to injuries. After splitting with Mark Hall this season, Kemerer would be the favorite heading into 2020-21. Another wrinkle at this weight is Logan Massa who will be back from Olympic redshirt and is expected to move up from 165 where he spent his first three seasons. If Kemerer receives another year and Lewis and Massa move up, this could be a really fun weight next season.

While the top seed, Taylor Lujan, is gone, eight of the top 10 seeds from this year's NCAA Championship are back. Add in Myles Amine and Max Dean returning from Olympic redshirt and this gets even more exciting and competitive. Amine, Dean, and Taylor Venz would be the only wrestlers coming back who have been All-Americans.

With three-time All-American Kollin Moore gone, Noah Adams will assume the nation's top-ranking after a flawless 2019-20 campaign. Adams will be joined by seven of the other top-10 seeds from NCAAs. Ben Darmstadt, Jacob Warner, Pat Brucki, and Dakota Geer are the returning All-Americans in the field.

With Gable Steveson, Mason Parris, Anthony Cassioppi, Matt Stencel, and Trent Hillger, heavyweight was fun to watch all season long. Next year it will get even better as Greg Kerkvliet will into the mix for Penn State. Steveson, Stencel, Hillger are your wrestlers who have been on the award stand previously.
