The next opportunity for these athletes to qualify will be next weekend at the Bill Farrell Memorial International, held in Manhattan at the venerable New York Athletic Club. In order to qualify for the Trials, which will be at Penn State on April 4 and 5, you must win your weight class (or be the highest-placing American not already qualified).

The number of wrestlers who aren't qualified is so long that it is impossible to be comprehensive, so we did our best to figure out who has the most realistic shot to be in the Trials, what weights some tweeners will be at, and who is most likely to be there at the various qualifiers.

57kg

  • Spencer Lee
  • Nick Suriano
  • Seth Gross
  • Nico Megaludis
  • Nathan Tomasello
  • Darian Cruz
  • Vitali Arujau
  • Zane Richards
  • Frank Perrelli
  • Josh Rodriguez
  • Jack Mueller
  • Zach Sanders

We've got an incredible group with college eligibility, a handful of past NCAA champs, a multi-time age level finalist, U23 world teamer, and then senior veterans. At least five of the hammers listed above are registered for the Bill Farrell.

65kg

  • Yianni Diakomihalis
  • Frank Molinaro
  • Jordan Oliver
  • Anthony Ashnault
  • Jaydin Eierman
  • Cody Brewer
  • Jayson Ness
  • Joey McKenna
  • Dean Heil
  • Bryce Meredith
  • Matt Kolodzik

With Logan Stieber retired and a group of three 61kg guys that still have to decide about going up or down, that only leaves Zain Retherford for sure at this weight in State College. JO and Molinaro are registered for the Farrell, along with two on Olympic Redshirts in Eierman and Kolodzik. We probably won't see Yianni until the Open in December.

74kg

  • Isaiah Martinez
  • Mehki Lewis
  • Jason Nolf
  • Vincenzo Joseph
  • Mark Hall
  • Ryan Deakin
  • Chance Marsteller
  • Hayden Hidlay
  • Jason Chamberlain
  • Richie Lewis
  • Tommy Gantt
  • Anthony Valencia
  • Logan Massa
  • Nazar Kulchytskyy

With Burroughs and Dake already qualified, it exponentially increases the likelihood we get juicy matchups like say, Mekhi vs Nolf. Or Cenzo vs Imar. Or Nolf vs Cenzo. Or Imar vs Mekhi. ALL of those are possibilities at the Farrell, because all four are planning on going!

86kg

  • Alex Dieringer
  • Zahid Valencia
  • Nick Heflin
  • Aaron Brooks
  • Sammy Brooks
  • Myles Martin
  • Nate Jackson
  • Brett Pfarr
  • Kenny Courts
  • Willie Miklus
  • Drew Foster
  • Nino Bonaccorsi

Interesting that some of the top guys at this weight are coming up from 79kg in Dieringer and Valencia, plus Brooks from the Junior level. Ringer is the biggest name registered for the Farrell, along with Sammy Brooks and Myles Martin.

97kg

  • Kyven Gadson
  • Hayden Zillmer
  • Ty Walz
  • Jake Woodley
  • Mike Macchiavello
  • Kollin Moore
  • Riley Lefever
  • Timmy McCall

Gadson has been number two on the ladder this whole quad, and Zillmer was in Final X: Lehigh in 2018 at 92kg. Walz is a national team member and U23 world medalist, while 2018 NCAA champ Macchiavello made his first national team this year at 92kg.

125kg

  • Gable Steveson
  • Anthony Cassar
  • Tony Nelson
  • Adam Coon
  • Dom Bradley
  • Daniel Gregory Kerkvliet
  • Jordan Wood
  • Derek White
  • Youssif Hemida

Nick Gwiazdowski has owned this weight for the past three years, and has had a different opponent to make the team each time. Does that mean a guy like Cassar or Nelson could continue that streak and give Gwiz a different finals look in April?
