St. Paris-Graham Upsets St. Ed

In the long history of Ohio wrestling, this dual is sure to go down in lore. A twisting, turning epic with unusual circumstances ended up tied on the scoreboard.
#10-St. Paris-Graham surprisingly won against #2-St. Edward, 30-29 on the criteria of producing the only fall.
The most compelling individual bout of the dual was the Micah Jordan-Dean Heil redeux. At Ironman, Jordan beat Heil in the semi’s in a last second takedown. And Jordan did it again on Saturday, getting the deciding takedown in the third period to win, 4-3.
The win put the Falcons out in front 10-0 after three bouts. Two bonus point wins by Ed’s got them back to 10-8 before an all-ranked match between Markus Scheidel and Alex Marinelli. Most figured that Graham needed that win to have any shot to take the dual. That turned out not to be the case.
When Falcons Lane Thomas (170) and Josh Couchman, who bumped up to 195 to avoid stud Domenic Abounader, both lost, the air seemed to be out of Graham’s balloon, and the writing on the wall.
However, Ed’s Parker Knapp was forced from the match at 220 after using up all of his injury time out and being hurt again. That gave SPG six huge points.
An OT win at 106 and a major at 113 closed the meet all squared at 29.
St. Paris came in to the dual known this season as a strong deep tournament team. Their win here shows they’re also dangerous in duals.
For Ed’s, it’s their second straight weekend with, for all intents and purposes, a ‘tie’. They also were tied on the scoreboard with #9-Montini last week at the DCC Super Duals.
