The culmination of the 2024-2025 NCAA Wrestling season is here, as the 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship hit the mats in Philadelphia, Pa., on Thursday, March 20.

College Wrestling's most challenging tournament will take over the Wells Fargo Center for three days, pitting some of the nation's most accomplished wrestlers against each other in the NCAA's biggest battle of brawn.

The NCAA Wrestling Championship has stood as the pinnacle of collegiate wrestling for decades, producing 889 first-place wins, 94 team championship titles and seven four-time champions.

Oklahoma State and Iowa Wrestling had long ruled the championships, taking a large majority of team titles since the NCAA Tournament's inception in 1928.

That is, until Penn State Wrestling flipped the script in 2011, claiming 11 of the 13 championship titles since.

The direction that head coach and Olympic gold medalist Cael Sanderson has driven the Nittany Lions towards since his hiring in 2009 has been the revolutionary change that the program dreamed of for decades.

Sanderson's regimen has produced exceptional wrestlers, including Olympic gold medalist David Talyor, and double four-time NCAA champions Carter Starocci and Aaron Brooks in 2024.

With Sanderson's dynasty ever-growing and set to win the championship again this year, another monumental tournament is currently unfolding.

Here's everything you need to know.
