2022-23 National Girls High School Rankings

144 pounds

USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum have published its March 2023 rankings for high school girls wrestlers for the 2022-23 season. This national ranking evaluates all girls enrolled in grades 8-12, and athletes from all 50 states are eligible for selection.

All of the annual state high school championships, both official and unofficial, have been held. These state championships had a major impact on the current rankings in all weight classes.

In addition, the first of the major post-season national events, the USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle National Championships, were held in Omaha, Neb. earlier this month and also affected the ranking.

All of the No. 1 ranked wrestlers in February remained No. 1 in the March rankings.

Top ranked wrestlers who won state high school titles include Audrey Jimenez of Arizona (105), Cadence Diduch of Illinois (127), Emily Sindoni of New York (132), Maddie Kubicki of Missouri (144), Destiny Rodriguez of Oregon (152), Ella Pagel of Minnesota (164), Sabrina Nauss of Michigan (180), Savannah Isaac of Ohio (200) and Kiera Ganey of Illinois (225).

Three No. 1 wrestlers did not participate in the high school folkstyle season but remain active on the national and international freestyle scene: Alex Szkotnicki of Maryland (112), Elena Ivaldi of California (117) and Shelby Moore of Washington (122).

No. 1 Morgan Turner of Illinois (100) did not compete in her girls state championships, but was third in the Illinois 2A State Championships for boys. No. 1 Valerie Hamilton of Illinois (138) went up a weight in the Illinois girls championships and lost to No. 2 Sydney Perry, but came down to her normal weight for the USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle Nationals and won the Junior division at 138 pounds to retain her No. 1 ranking there.

There were some adjustments Pound-For-Pound (P-4-P) rankings. The top six ranked wrestlers were unchanged, with Audrey Jimenez of Arizona continuing as the No. 1 P-4-P wrestler in the nation. Athletes who are new to the P-4-P rankings are No. 15 Anaya Falcon of California, No. 19 Morgan Turner of Illinois and No. 25 Isabella Marie Gonzales of California.

The next National Girls High School Ranking will be in May, after two major USA Wrestling competitions are completed, the Women’s National Championships in Spokane, Wash. April 14-16 and the Girls National High School Recruiting Showcase in Las Vegas, Nev., April 28-29.

Other major spring competitions, such as the NHSCA Nationals, the Journeymen World Classic, the USA Wrestling Regional Championships, and other large post-season events will influence the next ranking cycle.

Coaches, parents and athletes are encouraged to provide information about specific athletes and their achievements throughout the year for the committee to consider. If they have information on specific girls who should be considered for ranking or updates on their achievements, please send it by email to girlsrankings@usawrestling.org. The quality of these rankings continue to improve as people choose to share updated information.
