2022-23 Big Ten Conference Rankings

149 pounds

We have not seen Austin Gomez since he was forced to injury default to Yahya Thomas about a month ago. However, Gomez remains the #1 ranked 149-pounder in the Big Ten with his resume including his two wins over Sammy Sasso last season and an unofficial win at the NWCA All-Star Classic back in November. Sasso picked up his second win over Thomas, this time in tiebreakers to maintain the #2 ranking. Chance Lamer made his return after a month layoff and took losses to Max Murin and Johnny Lovett, but remained in the #6 ranking at 149 pounds. This weight class will be fun to watch at the Big Ten tournament as all of these guys are very close to one another, and it will be very important for seeding at the NCAA tournament.
