2021-22 NCAA DI Rankings

The Art Of War, by Gable Steveson Tzu

Steveson is coming back for one more season while simultaneously participating in the WWE. That's big news for Minnesota, big news for the weight class, and big news for the sport. Steveson will be the preseason number one for the third year in a row, and hasn't dropped a match since his true freshman season in 2019.

The heavies were comparatively easy to rank, as most everyone is returning for another season, thus we are mostly just looking at the rankings from the end of last season, although there are a few notable additions to the division.

Harvard's Slavikouski and Cornell's Fernandes get a chance to compete again after their conference-mandated year off. Slavikouski was the tenth seed in the canceled 2020 NCAA Championship and Fernandes had a strong season unattached in 2019-20 before the Ivy League put his collegiate career on the shelf.

Additionally, former Buckeye Gas Tank Gary makes his return to the mat, now as the starter for Oregon State.

Update - November 1, 2021

Owen Trephan defeated two-time national qualifier Deonte Wilson in wrestle-offs to earn a spot in the rankings. We've also learned that Edinboro's Jon Spaulding will be redshirting, opening up a spot for Maryland's Zach Schrader, who transfers in from Cal Baptist.
