2021-22 NCAA DI Rankings

Bravo-Young Wild and Free

Like 125, the 133-pound division gets an injection of title contenders thanks to the return of Stevan Micic to collegiate competition (a journey that started in the fall of 2014), and the descent of Sebastian Rivera back to down to 133.

Again, weights are provisional, and it's very possible that Rivera will be back up at 141. If he is, that's where he will be ranked. Until then, we have him one notch over Micic. The Serbian Sickle has a higher career placement at NCAAs (second to Rivera's third), but Seabass gets the benefit of the doubt thanks to having wrestled in a more recent NCAA tournament (2021 for Rivera vs 2019 for Micic).

It appears Paetzell will be at 133 for the Mountain Hawks. He was a tough one to place as he wrestled just one match last season at 141 but was a two-time national qualifier for Lehigh at 125 the two years prior to that.

We're also ranking Heilman, who was UNC's 133-pounder at the 2021 ACC Championships, but he will have strong competition from Jaime Hernandez for the job.

This is one of the deepest weights at the NCAA so there were many quality competitors just outside the top 33 bubble, such as Columbia's Angelo Rini, UNI's Jack Skudlarczyk, and Wyoming's Job Greenwood, among many others.

Update - November 1, 2021

Sebastian Rivera announced he was moving up to 141, which resulted in Sammy Alvarez moving back down to 133 where he is once again ranked. Stevan Micic also announced he's wrestling 141, which is where you will find him in the rankings.

Jamie Hernandez won his wrestle-off with Joe Heilmann and has been placed back in the rankings as a result.

And we had assumed Malyke Hines would be up at 141 and Brandon Paetzell down at 133 for Lehigh, but Hines participated in the Mountain Hawks wrestle-offs at 133 with no mention of Paetzell anywhere, so we have moved Hines back down to 133 and taken Paetzell out of the rankings for the time being.
