97 - Akhmed Tazhudinov

Akhmed Tazhudinov shocked the world when he defeated Kyle Snyder and Abdulrashid Sadulaev in successive matches to make the world finals. Tazhudinov then pinned Magomedkhan Magomedov in the finals to win the 97 kg world title. Originally from Russia, Tazhudinov now represents Bahrain and looks to be a force to watch for years to come at 97 kg. 

After Sadulaev’s loss to Tazhudinov in the semis, he notably forfeited to Kyle Snyder in the bronze medal match. However, based on Sadulaev’s 3-1 career record over Snyder, he holds the #2 spot over Snyder.
