Mike Macchiavello had a breakout US Open winning gold and recording wins over both Kollin Moore and Nate Jackson. Prior to those losses, both Moore and Jackson recorded numerous ranked wins over the top guys at 92kg. Just two months ago, Moore defeated #6 Osman Nurmagomedov while Jackson defeated #5 Feyzullah Akturk. 

Speaking of Akturk and Nurmagomedov, Akturk won a European Championship in April by defeating Nurmagomedov in the finals. 

At the Asian Championships, Japan's Arash Yoshida was the surprise gold medalist after significant victories over Rizabek Aitmukhan and Arashk Mohebi.
