Rahman Amouzad defeated Tulga Tumur-Ochir to take home a gold medal at the 2023 Asian Championships. This win ended a hot streak for Tumur-Ochir that included wins in the last 5 months over Ismail Musukaev, Yianni Diakomihalis, Joey McKenna, and Ibgahim Ibgragimov.

At the European Championships, Vazgen Tevanyan came away with a gold medal at 65kg but didn't defeat any ranked wrestlers in the tournament. This was primarily because Haji Aliyev competed up at 70kg and came away with gold at that weight class. However, Aliyev then went to Russia to compete at the PWL event where he dropped a match to Shamil Mamedov.
