Magomed Magomaev and Gadzhimurd Alikhmaev made a big jump in the rankings for their performance at the Spartakiad. Magomaev came away with gold highlighted by a 12-1 victory in the finals over Alikhmaev and a 9-9 win over #17 Akhmed Usmanov in the semis. Kakhaber Khubezhty was another major mover and though he lost to Alikhmaev, Khubezhty won bronze and defeated last year’s world bronze medalist Radik Valiev 11-9 in the quarter-finals.

Bekzod Abdurakhmonov made his 79kg debut and finished with a bronze medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games after only losing to Turkey's Muahmmet Akdeniz. #10 Ali Savadkoui came away with gold at the Games after defeating the aforementioned Akdeniz in the finals.
