2023 International Wrestling Rankings - Men's Freestyle

57 Zaur Uguev

The top four at 57 stay the same due to inactivity and their performance at the 2019 World Championships. Meanwhile, Rei Higuchi and Akhmed Idrisov have put the world on notice in the months since the World Championships. Higuchi, the 2016 Olympic silver medalist at 57kg, has been wrestling up in weight since 2016. In 2019, he actually beat former 65kg World Champ Takuto Otugoro. At the recent Japan Championships, he dropped to 57kg and took out defending world team member and former world champion, Yuki Takahashi.

Russian, Akhmed Idrisov recently won the Alans and also competed in the German League. Between the 2 events he went 7-0, besting 4 ranked wrestlers-most notably Erdenebat (MGL). The rest of the pack is a mixed bunch between inactivity since worlds and a group that have traded wins and losses over the past few months. Another new entry to the rankings is Efgan Khasalov who recently defeated Makhir Amiraslanov.
