Mohamad Nokhodi won junior worlds and will also be the representative for Iran at the senior world championships. His performance at junior worlds, combined with his gold medal at the Yasar Dogu in June, earned Nokhodi the world team spot.

Ali-Pasha Umarpashaev is new to the rankings at 79kg after moving up from 74kg. Umarpashaev had numerous ranked wins at 74kg including over Olympic silver medalist Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov and European gold medalist Taijmuraz Salkazanov.
