Jordan Burroughs and Alex Dieringer sit atop the 79kg rankings. Burroughs earns his spot based on his legendary resume at 74kg-no other wrestlers in this list have won a world or Olympic title-Burroughs has 5. Dieringer earns his spot at #2 based on his performance during his time at 79kg in 2018 and 2019. While at the non-Olympic weight, Dieringer only lost to Kyle Dake (#2 at 74kg) and Akhmed Gadzhimagomedov (#6 at 86kg). Also, Dieringer holds a head to head win over recent European champion Akhsarbek Gulaev (SVK) at 79kg from July 2019 at the Yasar Dogu.

The aforementioned Gulaev defeated Nika Kentchadze in the finals of the European championships, 2-1. Kentchadze, on his way to the finals, had wins over Saifedine Alekma and 2021 Russian Nationals champion, Malik Shavaev. Akhmed Usmanov lost to Shavaev in the finals of Russian Nationals but has had impressive results by winning the 2021 Yarygin, 2020 World Cup and 2020 Russian Nationals.
