184 One Flujan Over the Cuckoo's Nest

According to a statement from Arizona State, "Zahid Valencia has been suspended indefinitely from the ASU men's wrestling team." As such, he has been removed from the rankings. If he wrestles in the Pac-12 tournament, he will, of course, return to the rankings.

As the former #2, Hunter Bolen was poised to assume the top stop in the top-25. However, a loss to Nino Bonaccorsi dashed those plans. That loss left Hunter Bolen with a resume very similar to that of Trent Hidlay and Taylor Lujan's. All three have at least three top 10 wins and no more than two top 10 losses.

There's no easy way to disentangle this knot. We ultimately decided that Hidlay had to stay below Bolen, as Bolen beat Hidlay two weeks ago, (Bolen also has a transitive property win over DePrez, who beat Hidlay) and Lujan, by dint of having split matches with Bolen, assumes the number one spot. Lujan also has the least-bad losses, as he has now only lost to the #2 and #3 wrestlers, whereas Bolen lost to #5 Bonaccorsi and Hidlay lost to #4 DePrez. Of Course, that also means Lujan is ranked immediately above two wrestlers who have beaten him, but that's just how things go sometimes when you're living in a ranker's paradise.

Andrew Morgan's resume also received renewed scrutiny, and while he does have a win over Bonaccorsi, he also has a loss to unranked Colt Doyle of Oregon State, and moves below Cam Caffey and Aaron Brooks.

The rest of 184 continues to be an adventure. Nelson Brands wrestled in Abe Assad's place, and was beaten by Anthony Montalvo, who moves ahead of Rocky Jordan and Zach Braunagel thanks in part to Bonaccorsi's rise which also lifted Montalvo, who beat Nino in January. Montalvo's record is not without blemishes, but that is true of everyone's at this point in the season at 184.

Elsewhere, Billy Janzer lost to Travis Stefanik and Matthew Waddell lost to Jacob Hinz of Indiana. Janzer and Waddell fall as a result, and Stefanik rises to #21. Hinz remains on the bubble.

Finally, Jonathan Loew claims the final spot in the top 25 after a win over Corey Hazel. As always at this weight class, your mileage may vary.
