2019-20 NCAA DI Rankings

184 East of Zahid-en

The top half of 184 continues to confound expectations. True frosh Abe Assad has repaid Coach Brands' confidence in pulling him out of redshirt three straight varsity victories, the latest over Taylor Venz is his best yet. Assad's earlier losses to Julien Broderson and Kendrick Jones of NAIA's Grand View University keep him from leaping ahead of anyone besides Aaron Brooks. Likewise, Venz's win over DePrez and lack of losses outside of top 10 opponents keep him from falling below anyone else but DePrez.

Zach Braunagel's loss to Rocky Jordan causes him to drop a few notches, and it brings down Noah Stewart, who has seen little action since his loss to Braunagel at Midlands, down with him. Sebastian, Allard and Embree all get a passive bump up a couple spots as a result.

Elsewhere, Marcus Coleman drops a match to Zach Carlson and falls to #17. Redshirt freshmen Anthony Montalvo and the aforementioned Jordan burst into the rankings, thanks to Jordan's win over Braunagel and Montalvo's victory over Nino Bonaccorsi. Montalvo's two unranked losses and a loss to Waddell keep him from rising any higher, while Jordan has losses to Cody Hughes at 174 and Billy Janzer at 184 that keep him toward the bottom of the rankings. Both Jordan and Montalvo are capable of moving up in a hurry, as are pretty much everyone else in this very deep and topsy-turvy division.
