Class of 2023 High School Big Board

Gabe Arnold Presses For Top Spot On 2023 Big Board

#1 Marc-Anthony McGowan (NJ) still sits on top of the 2023 big board, but #2 Gabe Arnold (PA) has put some pressure on for the top spot. McGowan won Ironman and was third at Beast of the East since the freshman board was last updated. He also defeated #16 Brandon Cannon in the dual between Blair and Sem.

Arnold made his move with a third place finish at Ironman and a sixth place showing at Powerade where he defaulted to sixth after losing his semifinal. It’s comparing apples to oranges when comparing the national landscapes of the two different weight classes, so you could make a case for either wrestler at the top. We value the age group world success of McGowan, and he stays at #1.

#5 Meyer Shapiro (MD) made a nice jump on the back of strong finishes at Beast of the East, fifth, and Powerade, third. In the consolation final at Powerade Shapiro defeated #8 Rocco Welsh (PA).

#16 Brandon Cannon (PA) made a debut in the top-twenty with a Beast of the East title. Unfortunately he will miss the National Prep series for Wyoming Seminary.
