2018-19 High School Wrestling Rankings

The Hottest Name In Wrestling

Super 32 Placers

Jersey insiders knew just how good Van Ness was. But sitting behind ranked wrestlers on Blair's team last year, the national audience was kept in the dark on him. Not anymore.

Van Ness and Jack made for an all-unranked final in what was 1) one of the deepest weights in the tournament, 2) annually a deep weight nationally, 3) at a weight with a wrestler who had never lost at this tournament before.

Sammy Alvarez scorched earth'ed the backside to make the top three finishers all unranked.

I'm ranking Van Ness here for now until Blair decides who is going where from 126 thru 138.

Keep in mind Van Ness won NHSCA FR but lost in Challenge of Champions to SO Champ Noonan (PA).

This weight is kind of a mess with Tal-Shahar winning GFC but DNP'ing in Greensboro. Ford-Melton also lost at GFC.

Jack beat Pierson at Journeymen.

This is a really tough call. On one hand, these guys just wrestled a tournament together. On the other, Busiello, Ford-Melton, and especially Serrano have all been vastly more productive and consistent. In short, before S32, they were on different tiers. Putting the Van Ness-Jack-Alvarez group ahead of the others would be much too knee-jerk. Typically this type of situation isn't an issue; there is usually a tier in between the two groups. That doesn't exist here. And I refuse to put guys immediately behind guys they JUST beat. So knee-jerk it is. ]
