Most Pivotal Weekend in National Team Race
The only movement this week is Graham falling behind Montini and Seminary after a narrow win vs. St. Edward.
Blair beat Wyoming Seminary 37-24 and nine matches to five. The next night Seminary blanked Bethlehem Catholic 56-0.
Graham edged Eds 28-27 on an 8/6 match split.
Choctaw edged Allen at Jay Hancock.
This week, though, should be a bit wilder. Seminary hosts duals featuring five of the top eight teams: Blair, Sem, Montini, Bergen, and St. Edward.
The situation is relatively clear, however there are several 'what ifs'.
Bergen wins out (beating Sem, Montini, and Eds) and they're your national champs.
But what if Bergen takes a loss?
Should the Crusaders fall, Blair, who has just one blemish on their record (provided they beat St. Eds), would be a strong contender to regain the #1 spot.
However, that's not exactly a foregone conclusion.
If Montini beats Sem in the 10AM session, you could be looking at the 12PM Montini-Bergen dual being the de facto National Championship dual.
The only event Montini didn't win this year was Ironman (won by Blair) where Montini was 4th (.5pts behind Seminary). Otherwise, they've torched everything they've come in contact with, including setting a new team points record at Cheesehead, and winning the Clash by pasting Eds 47-9...the same Ed's team Graham just beat by a point.
And what happens if Seminary sweeps them all? That's the only scenario (and not an unreasonable one) in which the team title doesn't get determined this weekend.
Blair would be in the driver's seat with Seminary #2 and National Preps the final arbiter.
Also, MidCals will be pivotal. Tuttle travels from Oklahoma joining four nationally ranked teams in the Golden State.
